It is now a legal requirement for all dogs over 6 weeks of age to be microchipped. Top tip - if you've moved house or changed your contact details lately, make sure you contact your microchip provider to update your details. The chip carries only a serial number which needs to be linked to your contact details on the micrhcip company's database.
